Summer 2019 Road Work on Ebbetts Pass
This summer CalTrans will be performing road work on State Route 4 – Ebbetts Pass.
There will be one-way traffic control so motorists should expect at least 10-minute delays for each project according to CalTrans:
- Installation of rumble strips from Angels Camp to the Calaveras/Alpine County line. Work is scheduled to begin May 6, 2019, and be completed in August of 2019.
- Completion of work west of the entrance to Big Trees State Park. The contractor has completed the installation of retaining walls for sediment control, improved culverts & drainage systems, and re-constructed roadside shoulders along a half-mile segment of SR4, just west of the entrance to Big Trees State Park. Guardrail work and some additional drainage and grading work remain to finalize this project. Work is scheduled to begin May 6, 2019, and be completed in the Fall of 2019 with most work taking place during the day. K.W. Emerson, Inc. of San Andreas, CA is the contractor for this project.
The start of both projects may be delayed due to late rain and snow in May.
Work is scheduled to begin as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials and construction-related issues.
For the safety of workers and other motorists, please
Slow For the Cone Zone.
