Reclaim A “New” Trail Work Day

Bear Valley Trail Stewardship Volunteers:
Saturday, 9/17 – 8:30 am to noon

Trail Work Day & Complimentary Lunch

THE PROJECT: On Saturday morning (9/17), BVTS is going to begin building the first section of the BV “Meadow Loop Trail.”  This section is a nearly level hike which begins on the granite near the end of the meadow runway.  There, we will do a little cleanup and better mark the path across the granite with rock outlines and rock ducks (the small rock gathering is a great project if you bring kids along to help).  Beyond the granite is a bit more work for Rogue Hoes and McClouds.  By completing this section, we can finish the trail (with USFS approval), all the way around the meadow by the summer of 2023.  This is part 1 of a 3 part build for this project.
MEET– at the Bear Valley Adventure Center (BVAC – aka: gas station) at 8:30am for registration, a short introduction, and tool safety briefing.  From there, we will divide up and car pool a 1/4 mile to the job site.  We usually knock off by noon and return for a complimentary trail workers lunch sponsored by the Bear Valley Trail Stewardship with good food, good friends, and of course, refreshments for young and adults.
NOTE  Please park in the lot near the frisbee golf course so we don’t crowd BVAC parking.
WHO– Bring friends and family, as there are working levels for everyone. Come out and help reclaim this “new” trail section of the Bear Valley Meadow Loop.
WHAT TO BRING  Don’t forget gloves, hat, and sunscreen, along with sturdy shoes, water, and snacks. Many tools will be provided but may be in short supply, so if you have your own, please bring your rakes, shovels, picks, and loppers. Be sure to mark all tools with your name.
