State Route 89 (Monitor Pass) Opens Again for Spring Season

ALPINE COUNTY — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) opened State
Route 89/Monitor Pass at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, after it was closed on
Monday, April 11, 2022, due to a storm that hit the Sierra Nevada.

Route 4/Ebbetts Pass and Route 108/Sonora Pass remain in a winter closure as crews
continue to remove snow and debris from the roads. There is currently no ETO for when
they will reopen.
