Markleeville, CA – Alpine County invites you to attend an enchanting weekend filled with cultural festivities at the Washoe Mountain Gathering, taking place at the picturesque Grover Hot Springs on Saturday, September 23rd and Sunday, September 24th. This event promises to be a memorable celebration of our heritage, traditions, and the unity of our community.

The Washoe Mountain Gathering, proudly presented by the Washoe Tribe, Inter-Tribal Council of California, Alpine County Chamber of Commerce, CA State Parks & Alpine Watershed Group, offers an array of activities and attractions for all to enjoy:

  • Educational Booths: Delve into the rich tapestry of our cultural heritage by visiting educational booths that provide insights into the traditions of the Washoe Mountain region.
  • Food Vendors: Savor a diverse selection of culinary delights from our food vendors.
  • Arts and Crafts Exhibits: Discover and acquire exquisite, handcrafted goods, jewelry, and artwork created by talented artisans.
  • Creek Day Event: On Saturday morning, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the region during the Creek Day event, a collaboration with the Alpine Watershed Group, emphasizing the importance of preserving our water resources.
  • Dance Performances: Saturday features vibrant opening dancers from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the majestic Grand Entry at 12:30 PM. Throughout the day, revel in the mesmerizing performances of various dance groups.
  • Educational Demonstrations: Sunday is dedicated to Educational Demonstrations, providing invaluable insights into our rich cultural heritage.

Please note that parking for the event will be available at Turtle Rock Park and Downtown Markleeville. Shuttle services will commence at 8:30 AM and run every 30 minutes throughout both Saturday and Sunday, ensuring convenient access to the festivities. Additionally, ADA/Disabled parking will be available at Grovers Hot Springs.
